privacy and online security

In general, you can visit the EDSTech web site without providing personal identifiable information unless you voluntarily sign up as a paid member to use our online tool FlowStation. The Engineering Design System Technology’s ("EDSTech") privacy and online security policy applies to our current or former customers who register and pay for our online service FlowStation.

1. What Information Do We Gather and Track?

Personally identifiable information is information that can be used to identify you as a paid member.   Examples of this type information include those when you sign up as a member for the online tools.

In addition, we collect and store statistics and information about the online activities of our members for billing and account balance update purposes.  For example, we track each paid member’s start and end times for use of any chosen title.

Your computer reaches us via a particular IP, (Internet Protocol), address. This can tell us things like what part of the world you're connecting from or what service provider you are using.

2. How Do We Use Your Personal Identifiable Information?

We use your email address to identify you as our member to login, to provide you with newsletters to which you subscribe, and to send you a new password if you request one.  We may also use your email address, regular mail or telephone to tell you about our products or services that we feel may be of interest to you.

We do not sell your personal information to anyone.

3. Use of Cookies

When you visit our site we may store some information on your computer.  This information will be used in the form of a “cookie”.  Cookies are small pieces of information stored on your hard drive, not on our web site.  Cookie may allow our site to remember you when you return so that you do not have to enter your login data each time.  The information gathered by cookies may include your login email address, your password, IP address, the type of browser and operating system you are using, the domain name of your internet service provider and site visitation statistics.

4. We Provide You with Browser and Internet Security

Any time you enter a page to (1) Add Time via a credit card transaction or to (2) View My Account Profile or to (3) View Account Balance, we encrypt it using Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology. SSL protects information as it crosses the Internet. Your Microsoft Internet Explorer browsers will activate SSL automatically whenever you go to these pages.

You can tell if you are in these secured pages by looking at the symbol on the bottom of your browser screen. If you are using Microsoft’s Internet Explorer, you will see either a lock or a key. When the symbol appears unbroken or the padlock is in the locked position, your session connection is taking place via a secure server.

5. You Safeguard Your Password.

Your password is set by you when you sign up.  Your password can be changed by you at any time (in View My Account Profile).  You replacement password can be randomly generated by our server and sent directly and only to your login email address if you don’t remember our password and request a new password.  In all cases, we do not know your password.
Your password is your private entry key into your account. You should never share it with anyone and you should change it periodically.

6. How Can I Access My Personal Identifiable Information?

We give you access to the information about your account that you provided when you first signed up as a member for the limited purpose of viewing and updating that information.  You can do so after you login and go to View My Account Profile.

7. How Do I Prevent My Account From Being Accessed without My Authorization?

It is important for you to protect your email address and your password.  It is also important for you to protect against unauthorized access to your already logged in section and to continue to use that session as you.  In this case the charge against your escrow will continue.  Be sure to log off when finished your intended session.  This prevents someone else from accessing your account through your computer if you leave your computer and your session hasn’t “timed out” or automatically shut down.

8. Internet Transaction Using Your Credit Card

For paid customers of the online tool FlowStation to set up the escrow at EDSTech by charging to your credit card, we use PayPal as the transaction agent. Customers are requested or directed to the PayPal secure site using their PayPal account for payment.

We do not handle your credit card information.

9. What Other Choice Do I Have?

You can always choose not to provide information, even though it might be needed to make a online purchase or credit card transaction.  You can send us a check or company’s purchase order instead of using a credit card for an online transaction.
